Adela 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
One of a trio of 2017 releases from Bladnoch celebrating the reopening of the distillery in the Lowland region. The Adela 15 Year Old expression is crafted using whiskies matured in both American and Spanish oak Oloroso Sherry butts. The Bladnoch distillery was mothballed from around 2010 and was revived in 2017. This single malt is comprised of stocks that were ageing prior to its closure, aged for a minimum of 15 years in oloroso sherry butts made from Spanish and American oak, some of which were first fill. The Adela is not chill filtered or artificially colored. Founded in 1817, Bladnoch was initially established as a Farmhouse Distillery. Situated on the banks of the River Bladnoch, it stands out as Scotland's southernmost distillery. A quaint distillery, Bladnoch uses just one pair of stills, creating whiskies known for their signature light/delicate character, highly sought after by connoisseurs. This Lowland single malt was distilled in 1990 and matured in ex-bourbon casks. This Bladnoch 25 independent bottling also picked up a Silver Medal at the 2016 New York Wine & Spirits Competition.

About the brand
1817 Bladnoch’s rich history dates back to 1817, when John and Thomas McClelland were first granted a licence to distil Whisky on their Bladnoch farm in Scotland’s Lowlands. For nearly a century, successive generations of McClelland family grew and modernised the distillery. At its peak, the site had six washbacks and annual production of approximately 230,000 litres of alcohol, which cemented its status as the “Queen of the Lowlands” 1905 Over the next 80 years, Bladnoch Distillery changed hands several times and continued to produce fine Lowlands Whisky. 1966 In 1956, Bladnoch Distillery Limited was created and the stills which had fallen silent during the war were recommissioned. The stillhouse was expanded to four stills in 1966. 1983 More recently, the distillery was owned by Arthur Bell & Sons (which would later become part of Guinness / United Distillers) between 1983 and 1993, a period during which the brand’s distribution was increased and a Visitor Centre was established. From 1993, the distillery was privately owned by Raymond and Colin Armstrong. 2015 Australian entrepreneur, David Prior acquired the company from Raymond and Colin Armstrong, and began an extensive refurbishment of the distillery. 2017 After 2 years of renovations under the direction of Master Distiller, Ian MacMillan, Bladnoch Distillery resumed production. In 2017, Bladnoch celebrated its 200 year anniversary, making it one of the oldest and one of the largest privately owned Scotch Whisky distilleries. 2019 Highly acclaimed Master Distiller, Dr Nick Savage joined the Bladnoch team. Bladnoch launched its state-of-the-art Visitor Centre experience, gift shop and Melba Cafe. TODAY Bladnoch celebrates its 203rd anniversary.

Nose - Cherry and strawberry hack drops canned cranberry sauce dim nectar dull toffee Taste - Sweet cherry/strawberry/new dim stone natural products trace of dim chocolate dim toffee light sugar coated ginger flavor light stone organic product pit harshness on backend Finish - Enduring dim stone natural product sweet trace of sharpness waits light white pepper shiver cocoa nib sharpness Score - 84/100 Last Considerations - The nose on this one shouts dessert measure. I have an inclination this would be the ideal matching to a dim chocolate cake or whatever else that has a type of berry compote to help supplement the light harshness that this measure has with it. The nose is incredible yet can presumably get a piece overwhelmingly sweet for a few. Begins extraordinary on the tongue yet changes to this light metallic harshness that I every so often get with some oloroso completed Scotches. Would I drink it whenever advertised? - Yes Would I explicitly arrange it? - Possibly with treat Would I purchase a jug? - Most likely not another

Spiced leafy foods chocolate on the button with a trace of caramel. Rich spiced natural product taste with a dull chocolate connotation. Smooth negligible warmth. Short completion and a waiting flavor.
