One of a trio of 2017 releases from Bladnoch celebrating the reopening of the distillery in the Lowland region. The Adela 15 Year Old expression is crafted using whiskies matured in both American and Spanish oak Oloroso Sherry butts.
The Bladnoch distillery was mothballed from around 2010 and was revived in 2017. This single malt is comprised of stocks that were ageing prior to its closure, aged for a minimum of 15 years in oloroso sherry butts made from Spanish and American oak, some of which were first fill. The Adela is not chill filtered or artificially colored.
Founded in 1817, Bladnoch was initially established as a Farmhouse Distillery. Situated on the banks of the River Bladnoch, it stands out as Scotland's southernmost distillery. A quaint distillery, Bladnoch uses just one pair of stills, creating whiskies known for their signature light/delicate character, highly sought after by connoisseurs. This Lowland single malt was distilled in 1990 and matured in ex-bourbon casks. This Bladnoch 25 independent bottling also picked up a Silver Medal at the 2016 New York Wine & Spirits Competition.…
